About Us

Background

AADA aims to develop qualified and experienced actuaries within Africa to meet the growing needs and demands of the financial industry within Africa, particularly the insurance industry. AADA is being created by actuaries within the continent, for actuaries within the continent. These actuaries have been exposed to developed economies and experienced first-hand what having a strong experienced pool of actuaries can do for the economy. These actuaries have also worked on the continent and know what sort of gaps exist in the field, where the most improvement is needed, and what can be realistically achieved given the skills on the ground.

The objectives of AADA are as follows:

To strengthen the actuarial profession within Africa, providing to local African actuaries the necessary actuarial tools, resources, and training that meet international standards.
To be a facilitator to aid local African actuarial associations in developing their own local actuarial talent.
To support the development of actuarial and non-actuarial skills in actuarial candidates and recently qualified actuaries on the continent.
To strengthen the pipeline of potential actuaries that will enter the profession.
